I spent my day with these people. They are people from all over Nepal who have come to Kathmandu for some kind of medical operation. Many have become part of the church through the program I am working with, which takes them in during their operations and cares for them.
I can not stop thinking about the joy that God has given them to take life one day at a time, being grateful for the community of people around them, and not condeming themselves for their social situation (as many of them are low-caste members of society). Most of them are handicapped (polio, paraplegia, leprosy, birth-defects, etc) and immobile outside of a wheelchair or crutch, yet they possess humble spirits, a love for life and a passion for taking care of people that many people in society lack.
I am amazed how God is using these kind of people to reach this country and am excited to see it happen and be a part of it.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29 (NIV)
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.
God loves them so much.
